I have had an amazing experience all around here. On my birthday (about 2 weeks ago) I got a pedicure with my mother. We had two wonderful ladies. I do not remember there names. But they we so sweet, very kind and made sure we where taken care of correctly. This week I went to get my acrylics done. They are gorgeous.

Husband surprised me with this for our anniversary. While the neck pillow and drink is a great plus on the services and the cleaning guys is always ready to pick up glasses and clean bowls; it doesn’t go past there. Everything felt rushed and I damaged my nail but my tech was nowhere to be found to fix it quickly. I got regular manicure and pedicure and regular nail polish that started peeling 3/4 days after. No dishwashing or cleaning by the way. One toe nail shaped badly and the other was half way decent. They also tried to do a more expensive pedicure on my husband even when we said twice we are getting the same thing done. Friday evening before 6 is super packed and ofcourse you have to check in then get in line. They move pretty quickly however for a heated neck pillow and a glass of choice of drink I could go somewhere better that isn’t super packed or rushed. Very great experience but not one I would return to.

Joyce is the person who took care me this service. I spent over $190 for this, the prices were already on the menu which is something I didn't feel uncomfortable with. But I walked in and wanted to do gelx but she and another woman tricked me into doing acrylic. And I asked for only 1 finger with a very simple line design, the previous times I did it, the other technicians didn't charge. As for Joyce, she charged for every little thing. And this is my foot now after a day of her scrubbing and cleaning my heels while doing pedicure for me. During the process, I felt pain and burn but I thought maybe my foot was sensitive to the sugar and hot stones, but when I got home, it was like the picture below. I'm really disappointed because I've been going to Ruby for over 3 years. A few years ago the service was very good but lately I feel like the technicians are not trained properly.

First time visiting the nail salon after a recommendation from my sister. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the salon and the interactions with staff. Everyone is kind and accommodating. As a busy mom, I don’t have much time to do things for myself. I was in and out quickly. Thank you!

I will NOT be going back to Ruby’s in Mechanicsville. I used to go there all the time, but ever since they’ve expanded, they’ve really gone down hill. Over the summer I went to get my nails done twice (dip), and both times my nails started lifting and chipping around the cuticles after only a week! When you pay $60 for a service, you expect it to last awhile. The last straw was when I went for the last time and the nail tech left a black hair in my nail, even AFTER I told her while she was doing my nails that a hair fell in them, thinking she would get it out before she got too far into the process. Nope! She told me “it’s fine” and left the hair in my nail 🤢 And of course that set also started lifting after a week, on top of the hair being left in my nail. Even the techs at the new place I go to commented on how bad my nails looked when I went to get them fixed. I will be staying far away from Ruby’s Mechanicsville!!!
