Nails By Masumi

I recently had the pleasure of having my nails done by Masumi. When I first walked in, I was welcomed into her very pleasant beautiful nail salon. Masumi was waiting for me right on time at the beginning of my scheduled appointment. Relaxing music was playing in the background and considering how stressed I was the massage chair really hit the spot. Masumi is a cheerful, warm conversationalist. It was entirely different relaxation experience to just have my nails done and lay back and relax in the massage chair without having to hear other customers coming in and out or having conversations on the phone. It was just me--getting my nails done and relaxing. I had some worries on my mind. I had two ingrown toe nails and I wanted to look like a decent human being walking into surgery on Monday. With all these worries I soon realized that I was lucky to have Masumi helping me. My ingrown toenails were hurting when I walked in but she fixed them with no pain whatsoever. The callouses on my feet were thick. Masumi took the time to let my feet soak so she could expertly treat them—leaving my feet soft and smooth. Masumi’s attention to detail and expertise came in very handy when it came to getting my manicure. Remember I said I was going to have surgery? Masumi asked me if I had discussed with my doctor about getting my nails done. I told her that I had read the surgery instructions saying not to get my nails done and that it sounded ridiculous. She was able to explain that getting my nails done in a dark color would interfere with checking my blood circulation during the surgery. I could do a light color or a transparent tint. It worked out perfect the day of the surgery. My manicure and pedicure lasted a long time and they usually don’t last long when I go to other places and I am especially pleased with how relaxing the individual treatment is at the salon and Masumi’s attention to detail. Surprisingly, the price to pay for this high quality service is the same price you would pay anywhere else in old town Alexandria. Now I am hooked. I cannot go anywhere else!

My first visit to Masumi will definitely not be my last! Not only is her work thorough and excellent—her joy for nails, color, and people made me both relaxed and energized. She encourages you to try out as many colors as you’d like while she preps your nails which added to the fun for me. If you love working with people that are passionate about what they do, Nails by Masumi is for you.

Masumi is the best! I've really enjoyed both times I have gotten a manicure with her. She is so welcoming and friendly, and she does an excellent job. I love that her space is a one-chair salon so it feels very peaceful. Definitely recommend. :)

Masumi is awesome. She is hands down the best nail tech who has ever worked on my nails. Not only is her work fantastic and flawless, she has a great personality that makes every visit a treat. How much do I value Masumi? I drive in from Maryland for her.
