Ambiance Salon

Sammie is great! Always love how my curly hair looks after my cut. She's great to visit with. She always answers my questions about products and which ones would be best for my hair without being pushy about buying them. The salon is also nice space and clean. Everyone who i have encountered there has been very friendly and helpful.

Jennifer-Stylist. I booked a Deva Curl service with the salon for my son on Monday for today, Thursday. We get there, we were not greeted or checked in. We waited 20 min and which point I get up and waited awhile for someone to even approach me at the front desk and told her how long is this going to take? Than the girl came up to help us. We went over what we wanted. Help with his curls. I mean obviously. We are there for a Deva Curl appointment. My son was taken back to get his hair shampooed and cut. He was brought back to the chair and cut like a normal hair cut. Nothing was Deva Curl about it. I was expecting this $100 cut experience for him and he got a cheap $26 haircut. Not what I drove 25 min across town for!! The girl before us got her hair finger curled after her shampoo. You are supposed to get a dry cut. You can read all about the Deva Curl experience on their website. My son got none of that. I was so angry that she 'lowered' my price to the $26. You've got to be kidding me. So the girl before us got the special treatment and my son ignored. He was only 12 so didn't say anything but I sure as hell did.

Jennifer was my stylist. I came here for a trim, sine highlights and a deep condition. I just wanted a little zhuzhing up. I got there on time for my noon appointment but didn't get seen until 12.15. In that time no one asked me if I wanted water or soda or acknowledged me at all. Turns out I was sitting next to my stylist who was doing someone's hair. She didn't say hello or, I'll be with you shortly, or anything at all. No apologies for being late. Strike 2. The only thing that stopped me from walking out was that im shortly moving to a place that has even LESS options for cut and styling for curly-haired girls. Then when it was my turn I asked her if she knew how to cut curly hair. Clearly I was nervous. She isn't trained in the Deva Cut but the receptionist told me she could cut curly hair. I told her that lots of people say they know how to cut curly hair but cant. Instead of reassuring me she said if I was uncomfortable I could just leave. WOW. Strike 3. After I sat down she told me that clients aren't supposed to have their hair up or clipped or anything bc it ruins the curl pattern and they cut hair dry. This was said in a slightly accusatory tone. I wore my hair in a bun because no one told me on the phone when I booked the appointment to not do that. So because of that she wouldn't trim my hair because she didn't want to mess it up. Now I may be old school but I would have figured out a way to make my client happy. I thought stylists were trained on how to cut hair both wet and dry. I suggested she wet my hair a little so the curls would bounce back but she refused. She could have wet my hair and blew it dry a little and then triimed it. At least do SOMETHING. She took a little scissor and evened up some spots in the back. I got some highlights which were fine. And then she blew dry my hair a bit and I was under the dryer a bit and that was about it. I told her I wanted some volume but my neck was aching from sitting in the wash chair for so long while she waxed my eyebrows. I explained I couldn't turn my head upside down as i usually would to get that volume. My hair ended up looking pretty flat. Sge didn't even put any hairspray on. I have never come out of a salon looking almost exactly the same as when I entered. The salon was grey and dark and cold. Pretty depressing and run-down looking. About as much ambience as a dentist's waiting room. I am so disappointed. Customer service is a dying art.

Sammi was amazing! She’s so sweet and really takes the time to make sure you get the haircut you want, while also being realistic so your expectations are met.
