HM Nails Spa in Exeter

I've been going to this salon a while and can say the experience is varied depending on which attendant your paired with. I've had great sessions and left with beautiful manicures and not so great experiences with cut fingers, uneven nails and untouched grimmy under growth out I've unfortunately had to trim myself. Recently I've decided to give my nails a break for a bit and booked an acrylic removal and the way it was done was upsetting and left my nails very damaged. The attendant cut down the acrylics & dremeled off the gel polish ....and most of the acrylic to the point it felt it was burning then decided to skip soaking and just used an acrylic tip to wedge under and peel off my acrylics leaving me with very damaged, thin & painful finger nails. I wasn't offered any further nails care to help improve the condition or look either.

No welcome when entering the door even though I’d made an appointment in advance, and I was cut twice during my acrylic refill (enough to bleed during the session.) The shaving of the nails was very painful, and the filing was rough… the actual shape and painting of the French tips is off/lop sided on most of the nails, and I was there for much longer than my friends who had asked for more elaborate designs… For $50+ I was shocked with the low quality/pain and cuts. Would not return.

I personally rate them 0 stars as honestly 1 star is a lot for them, unfortunately google will not allow to put zero stars. Went in today & left so unsatisfied.. not one to write negative reviews but I have no words other than do not go there… I went home and thankfully had a nail drill and drilled off all the over thickness from the acrylic applied and the width of the nails were horrible… looked like someones first day on the job. I ended up fixing my nails myself and completely repainting them. Might aswell have done the full process myself. I will also note she did not clean off the under of my nails nor did she cut or push my cuticles back. My nails also look like a one week old set and they were done today. Highly don’t recommend.

I really wanted an ombre look for a wedding I was attending and I am so happy with the results. It takes longer to achieve the dipped pm re look but it was a nice change from the normal shellac I get. Also had a pedicure which was great. Their new location is lovely and their new pedicure chairs have a super strong massage which I loved!

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a bad review for anywhere but this was so bad I just have to. Do not get any sort of gel or dip powder done here. The appointment took almost two hours which was crazy, my normal salon takes 35-40 mins max. She had no idea what she was doing and kept mixing up which powder she was supposed to use next and she applied over 8 THICK coats. My nails are way higher than my skin on my fingers and they look absolutely awful. They’re so thick I can’t do my normal day to day activities with my hands, the thumbs were two different lengths, one significantly longer than the other one by about 1/2 an inch! Like a weird long talon just on one thumb. I said I wanted all the nails as short as possible and I left with super long misshapen nails, many of them not even straight. My two kids were with me and they got shellac manicures and both complained after that the technician really hurt them by pushing too hard during the ‘massage’ part and also cutting the skin too close. The three services came to $140! Wasted two hours and so much money for something I had to come home and file down as much as I could just to be able to type properly for work.
