Mirror Lake Inn

Very nice hotel, very Adirondack style (may seem dated a bit but suits the local). We had a room in the Mountain View building overlooking the lake, good privacy. Nice little sitting area. Good water pressure and nice hot water! Breakfast buffet on weekend was a bit of a zoo (try and avoid between 830-930), much more calm ala cart on weekdays. Had dinner at the View Restaurant, which was nice if a bit expensive but I think good for area. Staff very courteous and helpful. The library on the main floor very comfortable with nice fireplace. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Lake Placid

One of the best hotels 🧡 I would love to come back for sure. It's old-fashioned (of course, this inn has a long history) - feeling like I am inside of the Christmas old movie! Sparkling clean, and everything was on another level. I can definitely see how this inn could be one of the prestigious "small luxury hotels."

We had a wonderful stay at the Mirror Lake Inn. The service was excellent from start to finish—every staff member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Our room was cozy, clean, and incredibly comfortable, creating the perfect spot to relax after a long day. And the views… absolutely outstanding. Waking up to the lake and mountains felt magical. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a beautiful escape.

We absolutely love this beautiful, family-owned boutique hotel in the Adirondacks. We’ve been coming here for ten years, and each visit reminds us why we return. The rooms are gorgeous, with breathtaking views of Mirror Lake. I’ve stayed both in a lakeside room and in the main hotel, and each has its own charm. The staff—who come from all over the world—are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming to every guest. Their attention to detail is remarkable; when we had a squeaky bathroom door, it was fixed within minutes. This is the kind of service that makes you feel truly cared for. One of the things I appreciate most is that while the inn is very family-friendly, it also values a respectful atmosphere. They welcome children warmly but do not tolerate disruptive behavior—which, as a mother of three young kids, I fully support. Children should learn to be polite, respectful, and adhere to rules, especially in public spaces. The spa is a serene sanctuary, reserved for spa guests only, allowing for complete relaxation. Fresh cookies and coffee are always waiting in the lobby, a small but wonderful touch. The pools are immaculate, the food is consistently delicious at both breakfast and dinner, and the private beach is impeccably maintained. Each morning, I either used the well-equipped gym or swam across the lake (about 0.5 miles each way) directly from the hotel’s beach—though, of course, swimming is at your own risk, as there are no lifeguards. For a casual lunch or easy dinner, The Cottage restaurant offers a simple, reliable menu that never changes but always satisfies. Yes, this is a boutique luxury property, so expect to pay more—but the experience, quality, and care make it worth every penny. Mirror Lake Inn is a true gem, and we can’t wait for our next visit.

The hotel is old Adirondack style and we loved it. The wood accents are beautifully polished, there are charming old skiing memorabilia, & fun old pictures. The main house is cozy and warm and my husband loved the complimentary front desk cookies while I loved the free coffee and tea. Each room has a beautiful flower box and flowers line the entrance driveway. WiFi is not a secure network (no password) which was a bit unusual. USB plugs in the rooms. We found our room immaculate and the bed comfy (we are picky about mattresses). The walk around Mirror Lake is right outside the hotel. Main Street shops are a 2 minute walk away. So much to do in Lake Placid (take a Legacy Tour at the Olympic Museum and hike, hike, hike!). Lovely long weekend at the Mirror Lake Inn!
