House Of Nails

I am visiting Portland for a few days and was looking for somewhere to get my nails done. They were able to squeeze me into their schedule as a walk-in. Lina was amazing! I absolutely love my nails and this was one of, if not the best, nail services I’ve ever received. Highly recommend and will be back if I return to Portland again!

I’ve gotten my nails done here twice now, acrylic and builder gel, and I’ve been SO satisfied with the work done. The materials used are good quality and long lasting and don’t chip. The pricing has been amazing as well.

I had some disappointing experiences with Twan at House of Nails in South Portland. Every visit, I asked for my acrylics to be built thicker, and every time I was ignored. I’m a hairstylist, so my hands are constantly in use, and thin nails are simply not practical. I even had three nails break in one week and had to glue them back on myself. When I brought this up, instead of listening, Twan told me the issue was that I “just wasn’t used to having long nails.” I have had long nails for more than half my life, and I was a nail tech myself. I do understand nail structure and the importance of building the stress point. Being spoken to like I didn’t know what I was talking about felt dismissive and unprofessional. On my last appointment, when I asked again for the nails to be thicker, he again did not give me what i had simply asked for. He had me wash my hands after he did my fill and when i came back to his chair i said they really needed to be thicker because i was scared they'd break, he said he would but his whole demeanor changed. His hands were shaking, I think because he got really mad and he kept asking in a tense tone, “Is that good enough?” after every application. At that point, I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave. No customer should feel like they’re an inconvenience for simply asking for what they’re paying for. I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2004 and I would never speak to or treat a client the way I was treated. I would not recommend booking with Twan. I also have heard many things about him over the years and now seeing it for myself, I will never have him do my nails again. If I could post a lower star, I would in a heartbeat.

Wouldn’t recommend. Had nails done up in Falmouth just an hour ago. I had put on chrome on the top coat bc they ran out of stock in the chrome I wanted and asked this place if they were available to do a clear coat on top of the new chrome (so it wouldn’t rub off. I legit do not understand why they instead wanted to remove the new top coat to apply another top coat wasting the chrome I had just put on it. They were not busy and just seemed stumped on the idea of just putting on a top coat on legit freshly done nails.
