501 Salon + Spa

One star for a recent experience despite being a loyal customer for over two years at both the salon and spa. The services themselves are good, but if you ever face an unforeseen emergency and can’t make your appointment, expect zero understanding, empathy, or flexibility—and a hefty cancellation fee. Here’s what happened: My husband gifted me services at the salon and spa—something I was really looking forward to after months of hard work and busy childcare. On the day of my appointment, the facility called to tell me they needed to reschedule due to their own emergency. I completely understood and had no issue. However, on the new date, I had an unexpected emergency and suddenly had no childcare. I called to explain, and after significant pushback over the phone, they reluctantly rescheduled. The day before my rescheduled appointment, the manager called to give me a “friendly notification” that I would be charged an $85 cancellation fee. I was shocked. I explained the situation again and reminded her that the appointment had already been moved to the next day, for which I had secured childcare. She dismissed everything I said and showed no flexibility. When I pointed out that they had also canceled on me, she responded, “The cancellation agreement is between you and us, not us and you.” I was speechless. She then canceled my appointment altogether and hung up. I truly hope this does not reflect the values of the owners of 501 Salon. As a member of the Manhattan Harbor community, I’ve shared my experience, and others are just as shocked by the lack of professionalism and empathy.

I got my hair cut with Lauren and it was the best haircut I’ve ever had! The consultation was thorough since I was getting a big change, the shampoo was so relaxing, and most importantly- I love how my hair turned out! I’ve never been so happy with a salon experience more than this one:)

I had my hair cut by Andrea and she was wonderful! She’s very personable and she made my experience enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back to have her cut my hair in the future. EDIT: I also had a customized facial by Olivia and it was amazing!!! I’m so excited to have found a one stop shop for my hair and skincare. I will definitely book a massage to try that out soon.

Had the most AMAZING facial with Olivia at the 501 Spa and I couldn’t be happier! She is super personable and knowledgeable and gave me the most relaxing facial ever! We did the Gua Sha facial and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Definitely making Olivia apart of my regular wellness routine from now on! (:

I’ve gifted my wife and other family members at least 5 services (massage, haircut) in the last year at 501. The team was always very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately during the last scheduled visit, 501 had to cancel on us, and then we had to cancel the rescheduled date due to a family emergency. Upon communication of this, we received very aggressive communication from the manager stating “you signed a cancellation agreement with us, we didn’t sign one with you”. They charged us the cancellation fee after we finally completed the rescheduled service. Needless to say, despite 501 being very local to us, we will take our business and elsewhere.
