The Avenues Spa

This is my apology to Kim for my lateness in reviewing, praising, and applauding her artistic work! Anytime I’m in SF, she is my GO-TO nail tech! As you can see, she is a versatile artist who prioritizes her customer’s indecisive wants (that being me!). At one point, I just started letting Kim decide for me because clearly, as one can see, her attention to detail makes getting your nails done what it should be: FUN! Thank you Kim for making your shop a queer friendly experience as always!

I truly cannot describe a better experience of getting your nails done! I came here after being consistently disappointed with my old salon, and not only was The Avenues Spa so attentive with prep—they were so fast!! I was in and out for a gel x refill in 45 minutes. The salon itself is very clean, and I appreciate that they didn’t overbook so I wasn’t waiting long at all. My gel x fill was $45 but $40 with cash. You cannot beat these prices in the city, and I will never go anywhere else!

‼️PLEASE READ THIS ‼️ She rushes your nails and talks about you in your face in another language too. Just rude. I have never been treated that way in my entire life at a salon. Super disappointed. Wasted my 50$ They gaslit me into thinking it was my nail shape that made it look so weird (short almond). Mind you, I made multiple suggestions about filing it but they made it sharper pointier. I wanted short almond not short stiletto at one point I just gave up and let them finish. It was a simple fix... but I guess they didn’t have the patience to actually put care into it. I have had plenty other nail techs prior to this do it correctly and they were sturdy and didn’t break off (she said if she fixed them it wouldn’t be sturdy…) Their excuse to why they couldn’t make my nails even and nice was that my nails were narrow then widened going out. I went to another salon immediately after this and they said that isn’t an excuse for the lumpiness. When I called she offered to get them removed at no charge but I still wasn’t able to get my 50$ back. She also accused me of filing the nails, even though it was her work???? She left the sides of my nails with no paint, lumpy, and weirdly bent downward. I literally was holding back tears when I was getting them done. I would love to give this place another chance, but I don’t think I feel comfortable returning. After the removal my nails feel super thin and I’m just super disappointed. ☹️ Also when she removed them she filed my nails until they were red, thin, and sore. The part that isn’t red is my new growth. It’s painful to do anything now.

I am absolutely heartbroken and infuriated by the treatment I received at this nail salon. I went in for builder gel on my nails on Monday, something I was really looking forward to, only for them to start peeling and falling off not even 24 hours later. They were closed Tuesday so I went in on Wednesday (today). When I went back to the salon to show them what happened (pictures attached), I was met with nothing but hostility and blame. The nail technician who did my nails yelled at me in front of other clients, insisting it was somehow my fault that the builder gel didn’t even last a day. I felt humiliated and belittled. My natural nails are usually strong and healthy, but after this experience, they’ve been left brittle, uneven, and absolutely ruined, which you can see from the pictures attached. One of my nails even broke while the gel was still on, which is exactly what builder gel is supposed to prevent! I asked for the remaining gel to be taken off and a refund. Instead of understanding or compassion, I got more yelling and a half-hearted filing job that didn’t even remove all of the gel. My nails look atrocious now, and I am devastated by how weak and ugly they’ve become. The other nail techs could see the mess that was made and kindly offered to redo my nails, but I don’t see how I could trust a place that allows that kind of treatment. This experience has left me upset, humiliated, and out of money. A simple refund and understanding could have avoided this whole situation. I trusted this place to take care of my nails, and instead, they left them in worse condition than ever before. Save yourself the heartbreak and go somewhere that values their clients and stands by the quality of their work.

I love this place and I love these ladies 💕 I have been coming here for about 7 years now and I absolutely hate whenever I have to get my nails done anywhere else because that is how amazing they are! I can’t even properly describe what an awesome job they do but the attention to detail and pride in their work is bar none. They have become like family and are always keeping up with new trends and letting me know about them whenever something new comes in. They also are always willing to do the designs I find on Pinterest and they do such a great job recreating them. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Kim and all of her staff. I appreciate them all so much and cannot recommend them any more emphatically!
