Nail Star

I’m writing this review due to the poor customer service I experienced. I was the first person to walk in the door among four other women and somehow ended up being the last to get my nails done. When it was finally my turn, the technician started working on me but then got up to do someone’s eyebrows instead. I’ve been coming here for about two years and have never experienced such unprofessional service. Kim, the owner, was not present that day (10/18/25), and the staff handled everything very poorly. Instead of asking if someone else could assist me, they continued to take new clients ahead of me. I arrived at 8:30 a.m. (they open at 9, and were late opening, by the way) and didn’t leave until 1 p.m. I’m extremely disappointed — no one should have to spend nearly half their day waiting for a simple service. When I asked about it, I was told that since they don’t take appointments on Saturdays, it’s “first come, first serve.” That makes it even more frustrating, considering I was the first one to walk in yet somehow the last to be serviced.

Nail Star in Montevallo is my favorite place to go for a pedicure! Everyone is so friendly, and my toe nails look amazing! Kim is always super nice to everyone that comes in, and Jack takes extra time to take care of my feet. I always do a $35 classic pedicure, and it is worth every penny. Thank you to everyone at Nail Star!

This was my first visit to Nail Star and I will definitely not be back. The man who did my pedicure cut me several times. He cut my pinkie toe so deeply that he couldn’t get it to stop bleeding long enough to do my gel polish. Held pressure. Kept bleeding. He never acknowledged he cut me even though I said “ouch” when it happened. I’ve had my cuticle nicked before, but this was next level. Never apologized. He finally got tired of waiting for it to stop oozing and just started painting them. I was honestly so ready to just get out of there at that point that I just let him. The paint had blood in the gel color that left a rust color on my finished nails. And not surprisingly, the color popped off that nail already, less than 24 hours after getting them done. I really don’t know what else to say. Do not ever go here. I’m not sure what kind of business these people are running but this was a bad experience to say the least. Oh, and the rest of the pedicure was terrible quality too. Only scrubbed one foot. Gel polish is thick and uneven. Looks like a small child did it.

My daughter and I have been going to Nail Star in Montevallo for about 6 months and every visit has been outstanding. By now, each nail tech has done our nails and each experience has been wonderful. I always get a design on my nails and they always look exactly like the photos I show! The staff is always friendly and welcoming. This is our favorite nail salon!
