Sugar Pop Nails

This is a tough review to post because I’ve been to Sugar Pop probably 10 times in the last year. Each time, I’ve been OBSESSED with my nails by the time I leave. This most recent time there were new nail artists, which is fine, but the experience was severely lacking. I showed up for my appointment and they didn’t seem to be expecting me, which was confusing. The girls there were sweet, but I did feel very pressured to compromise on the nail art I requested (see blue nail inspo pic) because lighter colors would “take multiple coats.” I was confused by this because, are multiple coats not allowed? I usually get multiple coats. I decided to just do one color hoping it would look ok because I wasn’t in love with the other options. In the end, the lines are so in consistent and sloppy. The girls were nice, and I didn’t want to be rude. They were clearly rushed the whole time and it showed. I am really embarrassed by how my nails look. I tried to reach out to the owner via Instagram (the only other contact option is to call the salon where the same girls are usually working), but haven’t gotten a response. Maybe my expectations were unreasonable, and if that’s the case, I’d like to understand how. As it stands, I paid way too much money for pretty poor work and I’m sad about it. Without any meaningful resolution, probably wouldn’t chance going back or recommending Sugar Pop again.

Andrea did a beautiful job on my nails, i did builder gel for the first time and they came out exactly like my inspo picture. Definitely going back!

Vianey is the BEST ever! She does a phenomenal job on my mani pedi EVERY TIME! Love the Dazzle Dry polish. It lasts so long. The massage chair, foot bath, hot water, scrubs, hand/foot massages are such a treat!

To start, I rarely get my nails done and usually just do cuticle care and filing myself, but I want to treat myself for my birthday and specifically wanted to try builder gel since my nails are pretty frail. I have seen many nail techs use builder on tiktok and I immediately noticed the way she applied the polish was not like I had seen other techs do it. They do the slip layer and then the bead of it to build the apex and ‘float it’ down the nail for extra strength. She pretty much just pained two coats of what looked like clear gel before the color… Once she was finished, my nails felt great and strong. After I left upon closer examination I saw my sidewalls had been missed on multiple nails but it wasn’t that noticeable. I then saw a lot of unevenness on the polish and some nails just looked lumpy. As much as a perfectionist I am, I could deal with these things. It was not even a day later when I saw already two nails were lifting. Two turned to 4 and I called to get the repaired and they said that I would have to pay for the full set all over again if I wanted to see a different nail tech. She also mentioned some policy about it being past the 24hrs since I got them done and that they would be charging me for it. Extremely disappointed at this experience and will not be returning :/

I had the most amazing experience at SugarPop Nails! Such a pretty aesthetic, they actually offer GEL X services (very rare out here!), have probably the best polishes and colors, everyone was super sweet and I honestly think this is my new go-to nail spot in salt lake!
