2025-10-23absolutely LOVED my experience here. this was my first time visiting Zana Hair Boutique and when I went in for my consultation — I had showed some reference/inspo photos of what I was trying to go for. my hair was a dark brown color but, i really wanted something that was a dark cherry brown/burgundy color for the Fall season but, I still wanted it to be a dark brown shade in indoor lighting and red under the sun. My hair stylist Nia really understood what I meant and what I wanted and she brought my vision to life! It was a long process but, she gor my hair to the color I’ve been wanting for years. I’m so happy with how it turned out and can’t wait to keep coming back here to get retouches and more!

2025-11-16took my 3 year old for her first haircut today and everyone in the salon was so sweet and gentle with her. Nia gave her a beautiful haircut that she is so proud of, and I did not catch the name of the woman who washed her hair, but she was so sweet and gentle with her as well. thank you!

2025-08-04Happy to say that will be my last time at Zana. I have never been disappointed by Zana anytime I’ve been there. In fact, I thought it was the one place my opinion and wishes felt heard. Yesterday, however, I received anything but and left infuriated, with a hatchet hair cut and color, and nearly $500 lighter in my wallet. I went in literally for a toning a partial highlighting as well as a TRIM-emphasis on the word “trim”. Let’s start with the color. I had shown the stylist (which I have always trusted) four or five very consistent color inspo. While I thought my desires were acknowledged in the consultation, things slowly began to spiral. First, I always get a root smudge and like the way it looks in helping my color grow out smoothly. For whatever reason, my stylist told me that was not necessary this time around which was my first red flag. Then began the first attempt at my color. I should mention I always get face framing/brightening and money pieces with very blended very small highlights throughout. When the stylist began blow drying my hair I saw the color coming in as an overall brassy blonde with chunks of dark brown. I asked the stylist to minimally tone it down and we did. The second time we dried my hair, the final color was an overall greyed dark, dark brown which had removed any sort of highlighting or dimension that the previous color somewhat had. Now let’s talk about the worst haircut I’ve ever had. Firstly, at Zana I have had great experiences with anyone that cuts my hair so I never ask for anyone in particular and trust that the studio has hired experienced stylists. I should not have made that assumption. I should preface, when I get my haircut, I never EVER cut more than 3/4th of an inch off. So much so that in this case I asked the stylist not even to “cut” but to “dust” my ends. When I told the stylist this she scoffed which was a huge red flag. (If someone is not a long hair specialist they should not cut long hair!) I asked, as I always do, to touch up my face framing and was painfully clear regarding how I wanted them to be extremely blended with the other layers. She cut the back of my hair and showed me how long the cut length would be, which when she showed me, looked exactly like what I asked for. However as she began cutting the front, I noticed the length of what she was cutting to look more like 3 to 4 inches rather than 3/4 of an inch. Then she began “blending” my face framing. I’m obviously no hair expert but I should have trusted my gut when I saw the manner she was cutting the face framing. It was aimless and as if she was experimenting on my hair. She had done the wet cut and even explained that she would cut a bit less than I asked because the hair would “shrink” when it was dried to which I said thank you because I thought it was nice to be heard in my desire to maintain my length. However, once my hair was dry, I was left with a hatchet job where the front half of my hair is half the length of the back half of my hair. The longest length of my hair was down to about the middle of my ribs prior to the cut. The longest length of my hair now sits above my breast. Additionally, she began using dusting scissors to THIN OUT my hair. I saw inches and inches of hair being fully cut off my head. My hair, which is naturally quite thick as there is a lot of it, is now not only short but thin. My hair looks more damaged now. I am actually enraged as I had been working towards the length I had prior to the cut which is why I barely wanted a trim. A side note I would like to mention, I don’t know what products they used on my hair but it feels like hay/straw and sounds like it too when I go to brush or touch it. When I pinch the length of my hair to see its health, it sticks straight up rather than folding over-an indicator of extremely damaged hair. My hair folded over before I went into Zana yesterday. Now I have a drab, dark, un dimensional long bob where half my head is one length and the other half is another length. I am absolutely fuming and will never return here again.

From being asked if I needed anything to drink to being provided a cap to protect my hair from the rain… I felt like royalty!! My hair has never looked so gorgeous after the meticulous cut and blowout for my thick hair… and it lasted for days!! Wonderful salon and service overall!
