Today was my third haircut with Melissa. After the first haircut with Melissa, I knew I couldn’t go anywhere else. Her work is incredible - she asks detailed questions to make sure she knows what you want, but my first haircut I gave very vague descriptions of my expectations, and it was her vision that came to life with my hair. Long layers, curtain bangs, and a haircut that is the perfect balance of fun and sophisticated. But that’s not all! I also received a glaze and Melissa knew exactly the right blend and tone. In addition to a fantastic haircut and glaze, Melissa is a gem of a human being and is genuinely interested in my life. 10/10, a fabulous experience and the best hair look I’ve ever had (3x, so far.). Thanks Melissa for giving this gal her groove back. See you soon!

My experience with Andrea was absolutely AMAZING. I’m always so hesitant with getting my hair cut out of fear of losing length but she did such a great job at preserving my length while giving me a new look. She offered suggestions of what would look better, got to know my likes, and she killed it. 10/10, found my new salon for sure!

Booking was easy online, I even changed it a couple of times with no issues. My hairstylist was Andrea. She was very knowledgeable with my face shape and hair type to recommend the right treatment and style for my hair. She also took a last minute appointment for my fiancé and he looked spectacular too, although he was nicked in the process, he did say it hurt but he’ll live. But I will be coming again soon! Another important feature I’d like to highlight is they were diligent in cleaning up my hair on the floor in between washes and the place was very clean, gotta love that.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would without a doubt. For context, I struggle with extreme sensory sensitivity and processing challenges due to neurodivergence. I had decided to give Moxie a try since today was my wash day but I simply didn’t have the executive function to get it done after a taxing week. I definitely had concerns as woman of color with a disability. Popular and franchised salons have left much to be desired in my previous experiences. When I first walked in, I was promptly greeted. The space itself has a very chic yet welcoming aesthetic. You can tell cleanliness is a priority , considering the all white furniture/stations would be a dead giveaway of sub bar sanitation/tidiness. I expressed my concerns to Dora before starting and she was BEYOND accommodating, collaborating with Allegra to come up with a game plan to address some of my biggest challenges (e.g., textures on neck, detangling pain, water in ears). Dora prevented water from contacting my ears/neck, took her time detangling instead of rushing with incorrect tools, offered breaks regularly. Allegra also checked in multiple times, offered me refreshments, and delivered just overall warm, professional customer service. Dora suggested protective styling since I had mentioned the maintenance of my hair was overwhelming and it was showing signs of dryness due to the weather. Initially, I was nervous about how my hair would react to the products/styling since moisture is key to keeping my hair detangled until fully styled and I forgot my preferred products. Once again, Dora blew it out of the water, clearly showing her experience with natural hair ! What usually takes 2.5-3 hours with other stylists took 1hour 30 minutes, INCLUDING the initial shampoo and treatment. My hair barely tangled , the parts were CRISP for having fine hair, and the twists themselves were PERFECT. Between the level of customer care, quality of the services, and pricing, I’m actually floored! I completely understand why this place may not be the 1st pick for people with textures, challenges, or cultural backgrounds like mine. However, based on my experience today, counting Moxie out would’ve been a huge mistake. (Side note: All pricing is on the website and kiosk. They will also accommodate you even if you’re running late well beyond your start time like I was. A good bit of the negative reviews have false or misrepresented information.)

I'm so happy to be writing this review about this haircut I got!!! I got a Curly Cut, done by Janet, and she did an amaaaaaazing job! I have an unusual 3B curly pattern, in that I have that tight curl but the hair is not particularly coarse or thick in that sense... It's fine, yet dense, but still soft and weak, and soooo prone to breakage.... Janet was like a scientist with my hair. She figured out my hair type easily. I requested to have it dry-cut so she could really work with the texturw as she cut... She more than revived my style, she gave me a new look, which brought out my natural beauty so much, I left feeling stunned. It was exactly what I had requested. The most I had hoped for was a decent cut that wouldn't highlight the unflattering parts of my challenging hair..... So glad I found Janet at Moxie Salon!!! Special shout out to the receptionist, Allegra, she was the one to listen to my concerns and pair me with Janet. She made me feel excited for the experience, and feel very welcome. Thanks for the great experience ladies!
