Metropolis Spa & Salon

I was reccomended this place by a stylist friend as being a high quality salon with high standards for hair. I called in advance asking for the price range of a perm which was said to start around $150 but could increase due to the length of my hair (I have mid length hair, past my shoulders above my waist as pictured). The day of my appointment my stylist, Tammy, did my perm completely wrong for my hair type and length as I later found out, and left me with a rats nest on my head. She used a single rod for long strands hair instead of multiple stacked on top of each other (this will not allow it to hold long term). She then had the audacity to charge me $600 for the style, a ridiculous increase from the orginal price. I paid and left and then returned the salon shortly after realizing just how horrifying my hair looked. Tammy assured me that the perm would sit for a few days and then settle into what I wanted. Attached are pictures of my hair 4 days later. Needless to say I was distraught that my normally silky, healthy hair could even possibly look like this. Sections of my hair had been burned off and are still regrowing to this day. The curls were not only horribly done, but completely inconsistent, with some sectioms being completely straight (??). I returned to the salon asking for Tammy to fix it. She said she wouldn't be able to do anything. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she'd give my phone number to the owner of the store. I waited 2 days and the owner never called. I then returned to salon and asked to speak to them. I was informed it was impossible for me to speak to the owner as they do not deal with customers, but rather the store manager. So, Tammy had essentially sent me on a wild goose chase to avoid me complaining. The manager ended up refunding me for this disaster after an excessively lengthy conversation. About a month later my hair completely straightened out and returned to normal, despite me using the care tips Tammy had reccomended. So not only did she absolutey destroy my hair (I literally have hairs regrowing from my scalp bc or this), but in the end what she promised to last at least 6 months barely lasted weeks (which in the end, I'm grateful for). Overall, not only was the worst hair experience I have ever had especially by a high end salon, but the most unprofessional customer service and care I have ever encountered. Please do not come here.

I recently returned to the area and was looking for a salon for a very distinctive color and cut… My appointment was with Doris… I cannot begin to tell you how pleasant positive and thrilled I was with the overall visit… The girls at the front desk are so friendly and cordial… Doris spent quite a bit of time with me on my consultation asking me what I was looking for what my concerns were, and if I had any questions about products… She matched the color absolutely perfectly, and gave me an added treatment to add shine and gloss to my hair while cutting down the brassiness… The whole time my color was processing we chatted and became more Friendly and familiar with both her experience and my hair goals.… The other staff, including Deanna, who constantly checked on me asking me if I needed coffee, tea or water if there is anything she could do to make my stay more comfortable was so refreshing after my color was finished processing, we went back to Doris’s station. She explained what she was doing and how to care for it every step of the way I am absolutely 100% thrilled with the outcome.!… Some of the products that she used during the visit or recommended, but there was absolutely no pressure to purchase anything that was out of my price range. I have two appointments with Doris already set up in four weeks and in eight weeks… Please check out metropolis and all of their services! You will not be disappointed. !!!!

I’ve been seeing Tanya at Metropolis for over 15 years, and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her. She is, hands down, the best colorist I’ve ever met. Her eye for detail, especially when it comes to highlights, is incredible—always natural, vibrant, and perfectly blended. Every time I leave her chair, I feel refreshed, confident, and so well taken care of. Beyond her talent, she’s kind, thoughtful, and truly listens. She’s not just my hairdresser—she’s become a trusted part of my life. I can’t recommend her enough!

The services I received were actually really nice, which is why it pains me to give them a two star review… Despite the fact that their listing says they’re open on Mondays they do not answer the phone on Monday nor are they actually in the salon because I drove over to try and set up an appointment since I’ve been calling every day for a week to try and get an appointment set up… I really wish I could give them a higher review because the ladies inside the salon are very nice and very knowledgeable. However, the customer service is horrendous. I shouldn’t feel like creating a spa day for myself is a chore. Maybe I’m just spoiled, but my last salon always answered the phone during their listed operating hours if that’s so hard??

Gina and Kathryn were both fantastic. Gina did my hair. I had hair down to my lower hips, about 4 feet and she handled it wonderfully. Respected the length I wanted, I’m very happy with the results. Katheryn did my brows and I am proud to say I no longer look like Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf.
