Moxie Salon and Beauty Bar - Livingston

I’ve been to Moxie twice this far and have been extremely satisfied with the services I received. I recently got a blowout from Louis for a Christmas party and he did an amazing job. I have thin hair and it looks so thin and full. I had the pleasure of receiving a complementary makeup service by Courtney, not only did she do an incredible job but we had meaningful conversation throughout my session with her. Generally an awesome vibe in the salon filled with professionalism. Highly recommended.

had a pretty bad experience at this salon as they paired me with someone that didn't speak english thus i was unable to communicate what i REALLY wanted with my hair cut (which i only get once a year) and now i have to live with this hair cut till it grows out. i kept saying i wanted it blow dried straight, stylist kept insisting curly to the point where i was getting pissed. a hair cut shouldn't be this annoying or stressful due to a language barrier. nice stylist, like pablo was really a nice person but made me feel uncomfortable to speak up about this since a) i was not expecting a language barrier b) i felt like no one was available or even really cared? no one saw an issue with this???? did someone just ASSume because my last name is arcinas that i automatically am fluent en espanol? purdo comunicarme en español muyyyy basico, pero no en terminos de corte de pelo. comp puedo desplazarme en un aeropuerto, obtener direcciones y pedir comida, pero no puedo describir el corte de pelo que he estado imaginando durante dos años en mi unico día libre esta semana antes de mis fotos familiares.i'm probably going to have to end up going to another salon to fix this in 6 months which...sucks. i feel robbed. i showed him my pinterest board and even examples of the bangs i wanted. the pinterest board i've been curating for 14 months trying to decide what i wanted to splurge on at the salon because i usually just trim my on hair myself due to salons screwing up my hair in the past. because i have a family photo session coming up this sunday for maternity photos. high key ruined my maternity photos before they even happened. note i waited a bit to post this because i was trying really hard to force myself to tolerate a hair cut that really upsets me. i told him i wanted a hair cut that was easy to just wash and go (i'm going to be having a baby in less than 2 months i won't have time to blow dry it) and that i wanted something i could use heatless overnight curls with. that was lost in the language barrier.

​I've been going to Moxie for about a year now. As a transgender man, I'm always stressed about going to new salons, but my experience at Moxie has been great. The whole team is great and work together to make sure you have a good experience. All of the stylists are friendly, passionate, and great at what they do. The whole team is super receptive to feedback and are always willing to answer questions and provide advice. I truly recommend them and foresee myself coming back for a long time. I don't have any good pictures of the color, so here's the highlights before we added color.

I brought my daughter to Moxie for a haircut, and we were so impressed. We walked in without an appointment, and the team was super welcoming and found time for us. The stylist, Luis, was especially sweet and did a fantastic job working with my daughter's curly hair, offering helpful product advice. The whole salon had such a positive and friendly atmosphere. We are already planning our next visit!

Absolutely loved my blowout with Jasmine! Jasmine is amazing! She was super friendly, professional, and really took the time to understand the look I wanted. She did a great job shampooing my hair. The blowout came out flawless—smooth, bouncy, and full of volume. My hair felt healthy and looked gorgeous, and I received so many compliments! Jasmine clearly knows what she’s doing, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for a top-notch stylist who genuinely cares about your hair!
