RELAX The Spa (Rochester)

On a whim I called and wanted a hot stone Massage and they had an opening with Mary Elizabeth. She is so sweet and knowledgeable!!! Let’s just say I left there Relaxed. I did spend time in the quiet room. I did miss the cute tea cups they used to serve the tea in. It is always a great experience when I go there. Thank you Mary Elizabeth. Always greeted with a smile !!!!

The spa environment is what you pay for. The disaffected staff at the front desk seemed bored and a tad annoyed when I asked them to repeat directions. At one point, I honestly thought they forgot about me in the Quiet Room. My masseuse was kind, but did not apply the pressure I’d hoped or requested. The add on scalp massage was nice but not worth it; it felt like veeeeerrrrry gentle pressure applied for about five minutes. Not exactly deserving of the $30 price tag. If you’re looking for a therapeutic place to have an actual massage, this ain’t it. If you want a relaxing massage environment more than you want the relaxing massage, then you have found the right place

This is my second time visiting, and I had the pleasure of seeing MaryPat this time. Oh my gosh, she is amazing!!!!! I came in with severe migraine and tension in my neck/back, and I walked out feeling like a completely new person. Not only is she amazing with her massage but she’s so sweet. I wish she knew just how much this helped me! I don’t usually write reviews, but she definitely deserves one.

I got a gel mani/pedi, back and shoulder massage, and facial on 7/27/24. Today is 7/30/24 and my gel mani is chipping and cracking on multiple fingers and I work a desk job, and have a dishwasher, so my nails aren’t getting wrecked! The quality of the products used clearly is very poor. I also wasn’t impressed with the service for a $125 gel mani/pedi. The massage chair was nothing special, the products clearly are substandard, there was no stones or anything like that. No skin scrubs or anything, just a plain foot soak and gel mani/pedi. I got a 30 second leg rub with some oil and that’s it. We were offered nothing during the extensively long mani/pedi. We all complained of our backs starting to ache for how long we had to stay in the chairs because the manicures are also done in the pedicure chairs with a detachable table top that gets placed over you. I tipped my tech $25 dollars because it was still a service that was relaxing and she took her time to file gently and what not, but I 100% would NEVER EVER go back for nails. I can get a full set with custom art for $125!!! I’m so dissatisfied with the nail service. We had gone here for a bachelorette party and we were given a room which was clean and comfortable. However, we were talking and the door was open and I’m sure we were disturbing the quiet peace a bit, but it was an honest mistake. We didn’t know we were in a quiet zone. The woman who runs the entire spa arrived in our doorway and quite rudely said she was shutting our door because our volume level was too high and we were disturbing the quietness. This is not verbatim, but it was the implied tone with how aggressively she came and shut our door and spoke to us with heavy criticism. We immediately went quiet and tried not to be loud the rest of our time. She did come back and apologize for being rude to us however, it definitely set the tone for the day. We were spending about $2000 in total for this spa treatment and we were treated like “just some kids”. We are women in our late 20s and early 30s!!! It made us feel pretty uncomfortable and very unwelcoming. The massages were nice, but I feel it’s about the same quality as massage envy, nothing special for 50 minutes at $120 with a basic back and shoulder massage. I do have to say, my facial was phenomenal and so relaxing. It was the best part of the day. I got a classic facial for $130 and it came with a really nice gentle scalp massage. I was ready to fall asleep!! My esthetician was kind, and lovely. Her name was Tina. 10/10 I recommend going there just for Tina. When it was time to checkout, it was a 50 minute ordeal because they had two young ladies who seemed to be struggling to differentiate who was supposed to be charged for which services they received. They kept making mistakes and asking us for clarifications which normally is fine, but they kept asking us the same questions repeatedly because they kept mixing us up. At one point, an older employee came to check on them to offer assistance, but the young ladies declined and continued to struggle to check us out. We were trying to leave for our dinner reservations too. Just as we were about to finish, they forgot to charge one of our bridesmaids an extra $15 for removing gel polish. They had only charged her $15 for removing it from her toes but they also needed to charge her an additional $15 to remove gel from two fingernails. We had to stay and wait for them to charge her again for the extra $15. It’s absurd that they charged $30 to remove toe gel polish and two fingernails with gel polish. The entire place is overpriced and the service given is no different than its cheaper alternatives. If anything, I get a lot better service at quite literally half the price at a regular salon. I’m giving it two starts instead of 1 because Tina was a very redeeming asset to their staff and despite all the negative, it was still a spa treatment and felt nice. I just can’t justify the pricing for the less than impressive service.

Zachary is literally THE best massage therapist. Many massages are just a relaxing experience. This was a deep tissue massage and Zach found my problem area and relived my nerve pain. He also took it a step further and offered suggestions for some stretches to do at home. This was money well spent to get the relief needed. Thanks for your professionalism also. Also, the front desk was professional and nice as well
