NOIRE THE NAIL BAR North Raleigh

I absolutely adore this nail salon, it’s right down the street from my home. I’ve lived here almost two years, and I come in periodically for a set when I don’t feel like doing my own nails (I’m a licensed nail tech myself). At the end of October, I got a set done for a wedding. It was cute, not perfect, but it got the job done. I usually wait about 2–3 weeks before getting a fill. I honestly didn’t even know this salon offered hard gel, so I was excited to find that out. It’s not difficult to apply, but it does take a different technique if you’re used to acrylic, so I think that’s why my first set looked the way it did. Still very cute only I would notice the little lumps and bumps. I went back on Friday, November 21, for a fill-in and ended up with Richard. He gave me exactly what I wanted. He cut the nails back down to my natural length (I had extensions the first time because my nails were too short), shaped them into a short almond, and made them look incredibly natural, thin, smooth, and perfectly curved to my nail beds. Absolute perfection. I’ll definitely be seeing Richard again.

Went in for a fill in and got sat at station 17. Right away I knew I made a mistake by coming here. The nail tech was not friendly. I told her I wanted ombre pink & white and a cut down. Immediately she says “your nails too short already.” So I’m like okay whatever. While doing the fill in, she was grabbing globs of acrylic on her brush and it was running all down my nails and fingers. There were several bumps across the acrylic to which she pried off with nail clippers after the acrylic dried. Then when she went to shape them, many of them did not match. My left pointer finger had rounded edges and my right pointer finger had square edges. I was VERY unhappy. I took a file and had to shape them myself when the nail tech got up to look for a white powder to make the ombré effect. The powder didn’t stick, she applied the top coat and I ended up with light pink nails…no ombré in sight! I will NOT be returning. I posted a photo below of how my nails turned out versus the inspiration picture I showed the tech. I wasted $58 on a shoddy job. Another customer notice how bad my nails looked and called the manager over, he made me go back to station 17 and I told the woman to just paint white tips on them. They still look terrible. So bad I was laughing. I will be returning to my hometown salon from now on where a perfect fill-in is only $35! Don’t go here. I want my $58 back!!

I was a walk-in to the salon to get my previous gel x nails removed and a regular manicure, including a fun design. The place was busy when I arrived, but I was still able to be seated quickly. I was offered water during my visit, but I believe they have other drinks as well. My tech, Liz, was kind, gentle, and we had a good conversation throughout my visit. I think she did a great job on my nails and I would definitely go back.

I have been coming to this location for about 3 months. Many of the nail techs are really good but I really truly love Johnnie! He does amazing every single time 😍

Nice place, nice service. I will say I didn’t get exactly what I wanted, my tech seemed like she was tired and forgot to put the gemstones I requested. Price is reasonable for the job. Not the best nails I’ve ever gotten but definitely not the worst. If I stare at them enough I can notice many missed details but the end result was okay.
