Expressions By Design

I always love my time here. I take all 5 of my kids (teens and up!) here as well and they’re so happy with the outcome. I get a lot of different services done and every time I’m pleased. I hate to give any specific shout outs because so many are so excellent, but some of our family faves are Maddy, Ashley, Kelsey, and Jetta! Also LOVE Jen Vos, the owner. She’s a gem!! And who could forget Jana at the desk. I mean - she makes me feel so seen and welcomed. Thanks Expressions for helping us look and feel incredible!

I called about a month ago to get an appointment for a style for my son"s wedding. I wasn't told the person doing my hair was not licensed and was still training. Half way thru the service she told me this. My heart sank. I went to the church and redid my hair after paying $85 and tipping $20. I tipped her only because I felt this wasn't her fault. It was very disheartening at such an important event that she had no guidance at all until it was done. The brush she used to "back comb" my hair she got out of her cupboard with hair hanging from it. She never asked if I like my hair after she was done. My bangs were not curled and I had to do that myself as she did my sister in laws hair. My sister in law had her hair done right after. She took 20 min and put her hair in a1/2 bun and paid the same amount. This establishment should tell you that have cosmetologists training and aren't licensed. And someone should be guiding them not just letting them be until they are done.

Eyebrow wax was great. Friendly service. My hair color is not so great. 😩 I will admit, while I was there, I was not sure, but I thought I would give it a chance. Nope. Not very evenly colored and the front is more red than the rest of my hair. UPDATE: While in California for my niece's wedding I visited the hair salon I went to for 15 years. My stylist, who is also the owner, helped color correct it. I still have the red but it is evenly colored. Again, I did want more red, just not bright red. I

I had an appointment for a male haircut. I was in and out fast. My haircut turned out great, the stylist was friendly, and the pricing was great. I would highly recommend.

I received a gift card for Mother’s Day so I could treat myself to a massage and a couple of pedicures. While my massage was good, my pedicure was horrible. My pedicure was supposedly booked with a certified person, but during my massage it was changed to being with a student apprentice. That should have been my first clue because it is a duplicitous practice. As for the pedicure itself: the scrub wasn’t scrubbed at all, it was lightly wiped on and then rinsed off. My cuticles and calluses were not properly addressed, and the painting is a joke. I was also still cleaning the clay mask off myself the next day. When my husband asked to see my feet that afternoon, even he said “you got a pedicure?!?” Honestly, he should have taken $53 and flushed it down the toilet and then had our 6 year old paint my toes, it would have been better workmanship. If Expressions is going to charge full, standard price for a pedicure done by a student apprentice, management needs to insure that student is at least competent.
