Kailua Nails- The Original Salon

I visited Kailua Nails at 36 weeks pregnant as a way to relax and feel pampered, and they delivered! It was so tranquil, relaxing, and restorative and exactly what I needed. I got an American mani (gel) and a pedicure with a massage, and the price was honestly one of the most reasonable I’ve paid for while still receiving such a quality service. The nail techs were so welcoming and kind, paying special attention to some of my particular aches in my feet and checking in to make sure I was happy with the final product. I would absolutely recommend Kailua Nails - The Original Salon and will be returning!

The staff was friendly but honestly not a good place for gel x. It’s lumpy and uneven; took way too long for it to turn out like this. I came because I needed a refill and I came out looking worse than when I walked in. Also my friend did not like her pedicure as they cut her nails down way too short, filed them down too much to where it hurt, and the lady didn’t do the design she requested even though it was communicated several times. It turned out to be a sloppy job. We both left disappointed.

I hesitated to write this review, as i reached out directly to the shop a couple days after my pedicure, and received a refund and an apology. However, its been 3 weeks and I am still having pain in both my big toes. The pain is a dull soreness in the cuticle area of both my big toes. I went with a friend and her manicure by cathy(sp?) was amazing looking. This was by far the worst pedicure I have ever had, and I was cut so badly on my cuticle, and the both sides of my left toe were dug out so bad, they were seeping the clear fluid your body sends to repair cuts. I ended up in urgent care after I had a red line start tracking down my toe 2 days later. I was prescribed antibiotics and a prescription style neosporin. In addition to these serious problems with my pedicure, she also didn't want to use any spacers when applying polish, and when I asked, used only a precut spacer on my middle toe/ring toe, which she snatched off my slippered foot when I was checking out. This made me feel like there was not good hygiene at all and im sure she reused it on someone else. If I ever get another pedi- seriously, im not sure at this point as I have been cut before but never like this- it will not be here. I can't wait for my toe to stop hurting. I told a coworker this and she said her mom had the same experience with the same lady. She was older with short hair. Big bummer.

Arrived on time to my 5:15 appt. Didn’t start until closer to 6pm even though the place was mostly empty. Getting my toes done was just sad. During the massage her nails dug into my leg to the point of leaving claw marks upon leaving. I paid for a deluxe but she only did a regular and said she would be replacing with extra massage time but did not. I asked to have my toes short and square. She cut them down to the nub, like painfully and not a single toe was square. I asked her to square them up and she just used a cuticule cutter to cut them even shorter and more misshapen. I ended up grabbing the file and attempting to fix them myself (I promise I have never done this before). Lastly when the gel polish came she was externally rushed. My wife (who’s never done nails) could have done a better job. Four of my nails are only 2/3rd painted. Completely missed parts of the nails. And everyone runs onto my cuticles and toes. I was quite sad and upset upon leaving. Felt like flushing $65 dollars down the drain. The only reason I didn’t refuse to pay was bc the nail tech was nice. But I would have rather have nicely done toes. On the other had my friends toes were perfect. If you go make sure you ask for the older woman, she killed it. The middle aged woman with long nails, stay FAR away from her. I will never be coming back. *UPDATE: right after posting info this review half of the nail polish came off while walking.

Amy did a great job on my nails! Was my first time getting dip again in almost a year. She was very meticulous and listened to what I was wanting. Prepare for some heavy upselling, esp with pedicures (was worth it but would have been happy with what I asked for). In the end, was offered a small discount being a first customer and give a small discount card after payment for future visit. The salon was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly.
